Responsive Wordpress Design2012
As a passionate soccer fan, I couldn't help but back XI Quarterly when I saw they were raising funds on Kickstarter to launch a magazine centered around “the beautiful game” in North America.
After backing, I noticed they still had a fairly barebones website so I emailed them and offered to donate my design services (if needed) to build a stronger presence on the web. Next thing I knew I was wireframing, designing, and building XI Quarterly a responsive Wordpress site.
With multiple editors on the XI team, it was helpful working with people who understood the power of great content. We worked together to craft that content for the web and then I prototyped that into HTML wireframes so they could see how that content would flow depending on what device was accessing the site.
Due to a majority of the American soccer fan demographic overlapping with those who spend the most on technology, I recommended we build a responsive site with a focus on mobile-first methodology. Designing from the smallest device-width to the largest allowed us to focus on what content was really important to potential subscribers and providing that content no matter what device they were using to access XI's website.
Despite an extremely tight delivery schedule, it was rewarding to help bring to life a great soccer publication that I believed in 100%. XI launched with a site much more effective at enticing visitors to subscribe.
